Marine Rescue Skipper Alan Howes

On Saturday last weekend Alan Howes was presented with a National Medal for 15-years service to the community with Marine Rescue Central Coast, this weekend, on Mothers Day, Alan and a crew aboard Rescue Vessel Central Coast 22 were tasked to assist a 13m Hanse yacht stranded on the sand bank off Lobster Beach.

When the crew arrived about 2:15pm they found the $450,000.00 yacht grounded and laying on its side on a falling tide. Water depth was limited, so a passing tinny was enlisted to take a towline to the yacht. The rescue crew were then able to ease the yacht off the sand bank and into navigable water, much to the relief of the three people on board
