Five Rescued on Brisbane Water
The volunteer operator on duty in the radio room at Marine Rescue Central Coast, Shea Wicks, received a phone call from the owner of a 6.0m Searay Bowrider around midday on Saturday 16th January. The caller sought help. He said that there were five people on board and that his boat had an engine failure. It was near the shore in mangroves at the north-western end of Brisbane Water.
Rescue vessel, Central Coast 21, was tasked to assist. Marine Rescue skipper Bob White and his crew, Paul Hanlon, Karl Leiper and Bruce Lorking quickly located the boat and had it in tow. It was taken to a private jetty at Green Point.
