Callouts and Assists
The after-hours volunteers at Marine Rescue were called out around 7:00pm on Saturday night (11 June) by Water Police Marine Area Command to assist a 9.0m yacht stranded on a mud bank at the north end of Paddy’s Channel on Brisbane Water. The call-out was aborted after the rescue boat had left its base when the yacht reported that a wind change had enabled it to sail free.
On Sunday (12 June) around 11:45am rescue vessel Central Coast 22 skippered by Bob Sullivan with crew Brendan Weston and Max Landells went to the assistance of a 5.0m Bowrider with four people onboard stopped near the Spike Milligan Bridge at Woy Woy. The boat had run out of fuel. It was towed to the launching ramp at Lions Park.
A concerned member of the public phoned the base on Sunday afternoon reporting at boat on fire at Koolewong. It was found to be just an old diesel engine producing clouds of smoke
